The park in Spring...

We had a really great time at the park this weekend. What beautiful weather to tempt us all into thinking Spring is here to stay. Well, the real thing can't get here fast enough - we had so much fun playing outside.

Abigail is growing up like a little weed. We can't contain the laughter at our house these days with all the personality that our two children posses. She is talking up a storm, loves on her brother, and is learning to follow directions quite well. My favorite thing right now is the 'Hi...' I get when I get her out of bed each morning.

Elijah can't get enough of his 'Sissy'. When she goes for her nap, he always says 'I want play sissy'. Not only does HE not want to take a nap, or SHE want to take a nap, he doesn't want HER to take a nap either. Give me a break. HaHa. He amazes us on a daily and sometimes minute by minute basis & we can't get enough. My favorite thing he does is when he randomly walks up to my leg for a hug or a kiss. That makes a mommy smile.

Come'on Spring. We're ready!

At 2.5 years old....

Every Sunday after church, we ask Elijah what he did at church, what did they talk about, etc.. We usually get silly or nonsense responses - because he simply doesn't remember. Plus the added fact that he isn't that great at answering questions yet either. However, today was different. Today we were left TOTALLY floored. And this is how it went:

Elijah, What did you do at church today?

"When you Play... when you sing..." (sing-songy, we assume it was a song)

Elijah, What did you talk about today?

"Jesus"

Elijah, Who is Jesus?

"God's Word"

Well, who else is Jesus?

"The Truth"

Elijah, what did Jesus do?

"Anything" (The lesson today taught Jesus can do anything)

What did he do for you?

"For you and me...Died on the cross"

For.....

"My sins"

Did you get to sing with Mrs. Leanne?

"Yes"

What did you sing?

"The B-I-B-L-E..." (and he sang it all)

What does that spell?

"Bible"

Who's in the Bible?

"Truth"

We were totally floored and dumbfounded. As he went along, we got more teary eyed and more excited. He got about 1 million High-Fives & we were so proud. To have this kind of foundation to build upon at 2.5 years old is amazing. How many CHRISTIANS in this world don't even know that Jesus is God's Word ?

wow.

Pictures

Just a quick update - I am posting new pictures from Nov/Dec/Jan to the kids' webalbum today. Hope you enjoy! http://picasaweb.google.com/SeeUsGrow2

We have been doing well - kids sicknesses pop up here and there, but that's just winter in a house with 2 little ones.

Abigail turned ONE in the meantime since our last post & Elijah is now 2.5! My how time flies. The kids love each other to death. They play together VERY well, and fight together equally as good. I'm having a blast as a mom of 2, but life stays busy!!

Dead Silence

Yes, we are still alive. As it rings true for everyone this season, it has just been plain out BUSY around here. Everything is going well.
Our Abigail is growing up all too fast and will be 1 in less than two weeks. She is 'talking' her baby babble, but we can understand her say 'no-no', 'bye-bye', 'ELIJAH', 'All Done', and 'More'. She signs for More and All Done - and rough&tumbles with the best of them. Her FAVORITE thing to do these days is DANCE. All you have to say is the word DANCE & she's bopping around all over the place. She's not walking, but we're ok with that - I think life will get a bit crazier when she does. She does everything else, so she can hold her own.
Elijah's favorite word is 'NO', and he is growing up faster than we ever imagined. He continues to LOVE books and reading & really started loving Curious George recently. He deals well with discipline - however impulse control is something we don't expect anytime soon. ;-) He loves his sister more than there are words to explain - the first thing I hear after putting her down for nap is 'Play Sissy'...... He can't STAND to be without her.
Enjoy a couple photos of the two of them. We've been having a blast recently!!
Merry Christmas!!!

Home from Surgery

It has been a long day. Elijah did a great job...he was a real trooper. He was quite entertaining to all the staff and other parents in the waiting area - BEFORE he knew what was going to happen to him. He now has an incision just at the front of each ear about 3/4" long. He has been drugged up and out of it today, but also full of engery - which means he was quite irritable. He has snacked several times and had plenty of fluids, so it seems as if he will recover quite well. Thanks for your prayers & here is a picture of our little man before and after!!

Prayer for Surgery

Good morning. To any of you early birds out there... Elijah is having surgery to remove his ear tags today. If you could say a prayer for him around 10am we would surely appreciate it.

The surgery itself is fairly minor, removal of two skin tags on each side, but he will have to have anesthesia to be put to sleep during the surgery. We will both be at UNC-Children's Hospital with our little man and Abigail will be 'chillin' with Granny, Grandad, and Joe at the house.

Thanks a bunch! We are going to miss those little 'wingdings' -they're just a part of him, but it'll surely make his school years a LITTLE easier. Maybe one less thing to be picked on about.

Historic Oak View Fall Festival

I knew we'd be able to find a hayride for free!!

We logged onto my new favorite site for finding stuff to do with little ones Triangle Mom2Mom and found just what we were looking for.

The shuttle that was to take you from the parking lot to the event was a big trailer with bails of hay - hence our free hay ride!! On our way out, Abigail was hammin' it up QUITE nicely. If you remember the scene from the Titanic where Rose stretches out her arms into the open air - this scene was reenacted by our little ham named 'Abigail'. She would hold her arms out - as if to catch the wind - and close her eyes and then clap like it was the best thing that ever happened.

Elijah also thoroughly enjoyed the hayride, so when we were supposed to be getting off of the shuttle and into our car - we stayed on and took another full ride around the park just for the kids.

We got to see several different types of animals. Elijah saw most of them for the first time last year when we went to the fair, but this year he seemed to understand much more. We got to pet Goats, a HUGE Bull, a Llama, donkeys.... there were roosters, chickens, bunny's, and horses too.

I do love Fall!
